The Gilbert Chamber of Commerce is honored to announce that we have been named a finalist for the Best Civic Engagement Program as part of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s 2025 Citizens Awards. This national recognition highlights organizations and businesses that are developing innovative solutions to strengthen communities and address some of society’s most pressing challenges.
The Citizens Awards, now in their 25th year, shine a spotlight on programs that demonstrate the transformative power of purpose-driven leadership. Finalists this year range from local chambers of commerce to Fortune 500 companies, each proving that meaningful civic engagement and social responsibility can make a lasting impact.
A Civic Event: Bringing Neighbors Together
The Gilbert Chamber Foundation’s A Civic Event has been recognized for its ability to foster meaningful dialogue and connection in our community. These free, bi-monthly gatherings invite neighbors to share a meal, enjoy music, art, and poetry, and engage in conversations around important topics such as voting, civic responsibility, and community wellbeing.
In a time when polarization often dominates, A Civic Event creates a safe, welcoming space where residents can come together, listen, and learn from one another. Participants leave not only with a deeper understanding of civic issues but also with a renewed sense of connection to their neighbors and their community.
National Recognition of Local Impact
Being named a finalist in the Best Civic Engagement Program category affirms the belief that strong communities are built when citizens feel informed, connected, and empowered to participate. We are proud that Gilbert’s commitment to civic health and engagement is being recognized on a national stage alongside some of the nation’s most innovative organizations.

Winners of the 2025 Citizens Awards will be announced at the Business Solves Conference in Washington, D.C. on October 28–29. The event will feature thought leaders from across the country who will share insights and best practices in social impact, corporate citizenship, and civic leadership.
We are grateful to our partners, neighbors, and community leaders who have supported A Civic Event and helped make Gilbert a place where civic dialogue and community connection thrive. Together, we are demonstrating that strong businesses grow from strong, engaged citizens.
