Courage: From Vision to Action

Building a business takes more than strategy—it takes courage.

At our recent workshop, Courage: From Vision to Action, facilitated by JW Rayhons with Joshua Development and Rayhons Financial, participants explored what it truly means to lead, grow, and take action in the face of uncertainty. Through personal reflection, discussion, and practical application of the BOLD Framework, attendees discovered that courage is not reserved for extraordinary moments. It is developed through the everyday choices and actions that prepare us for life's biggest opportunities and challenges.

The workshop began with a series of thought-provoking questions designed to help participants reconnect with their purpose and vision:

  • What is something significant you want to see happen in your life?
  • What would you pursue if you knew you could not fail?
  • What do you feel you were created to do, be, or serve?
  • What strengths do others see in you that you have not fully embraced yourself?

These reflections challenged participants to think beyond their current circumstances and consider the possibilities that become available when fear no longer dictates decisions.

One of the key messages of the workshop was that courage is built in the small things. The courageous actions we witness during defining moments are often the result of consistent practice in everyday situations. Every difficult conversation, every calculated risk, and every step outside of a comfort zone strengthens the courage needed when bigger opportunities arise.

Participants also explored the connection between courage, value creation, and humility. Understanding the value we create for others not only provides motivation during difficult seasons but also helps keep us grounded when success arrives. True humility requires courage as well—the courage to continue learning, growing, and serving others regardless of achievements.

As Eleanor Roosevelt famously said:

"You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face."

Throughout the session, attendees examined six different types of courage:

Physical Courage – The willingness to endure hard work and physical challenges.

Moral Courage – Choosing integrity in the short term to achieve meaningful long-term outcomes while remaining aligned with personal values.

Emotional Courage – Having honest conversations, providing constructive feedback, receiving feedback openly, and learning from those experiences.

Intellectual Courage – Challenging assumptions and industry norms in pursuit of innovation and growth.

Social Courage – Advocating for ideas, perspectives, or opportunities that may be unfamiliar or unpopular.

Spiritual Courage – Staying true to core values and purpose through intentional self-discovery and reflection.

Participants ranked themselves across each of these six areas to identify their strengths and determine how those strengths could help them grow in other areas of courage.

The workshop concluded with an in-depth look at the BOLD Framework, a practical approach for turning vision into action:

B – Believe Clarify and embrace your vision. Courage begins with belief in what is possible.

O – Own It Take responsibility for your actions, decisions, learning, and growth.

L – Lead Forward Move forward with confidence and integrity, even when outcomes are uncertain. Lead with humility, remain curious, and recognize that both faith and fear often show up during this stage.

D – Do It Anyway Regardless of obstacles, uncertainty, or potential outcomes, take action. Courage grows when we choose movement over hesitation.

The journey of entrepreneurship is filled with unknowns, but growth rarely happens inside a comfort zone. Great opportunities, meaningful impact, and lasting success often require us to act before we feel completely ready.

Courage creates movement. Courage creates growth. And ultimately, courage turns vision into action.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this powerful conversation. We encourage you to continue developing courage in the small moments, trusting that those daily choices will prepare you for the opportunities ahead.
