Gilbert Leadership Class Application

Class applications are accepted from March 1st to July 5th each year.

Gilbert Leadership strives to recruit and select a diverse group of individuals who are committed to the Gilbert community. To apply for the program, please complete the written application below. We encourage you to be thorough in your responses, as scoring is based on your response to the question in its entirety. Please use this to help us get to know you!

In addition to the written application, all candidates will be invited to participate in an in-person interview. A specific time will be assigned for this portion of the selection process. Please note that both the written application and participation in the interview are required for program consideration.

The Gilbert Leadership Steering Committee will make the final selection of the class.

Tentative 2026-2027 program dates (subject to change):

  • July 28 - In-person interviews by appointment*
  • July 30 - In-person interviews by appointment*
  • September 23 - Orientation (evening)
  • September 25 - Team Building Day (5:30 AM to 6:30 PM)
  • October 23 - Learning Day: Leadership & Personal Development
  • November 20 - Learning Day: History
  • November 21 - Gilbert Days Parade
  • December 11 - Learning Day: Healthcare
  • January 28 - Learning Day: Economic Development
  • February 26 - Learning Day: Education
  • March 25 - Learning Day: Public Safety
  • April 15 - Learning Day: Government
  • May 14 - Learning Day: Community & Social Engagement
  • June 11 - Learning Day: Reflect & Connect
  • June 17 - Graduation (evening)

*Participate in only one of the two dates offered.

Important Notes:

  • Learning days typically begin at 7:30 AM and adjourn at 5:00 PM.
  • Applicants must attend Team Building Day. This is a 12+ hour day, and the class will travel together by bus outside of the Valley. If you cannot participate on this date for the full day, please consider applying for a future program cycle.
  • To remain eligible for graduation, participants must attend Team Building Day and may not miss more than 2 learning days.
  • The Class will oversee the program's parade entry for the Gilbert Days Parade, including float theme, float building, and parade walking/riding.
