The Gilbert Chamber of Commerce is asking voters to approve a 15% Maintenance & Operations Override for the Higley Unified School District. This renewal is critical to sustaining the high-quality programs and opportunities our community values—and it has a direct impact on the strength of our local economy.
When schools thrive, businesses thrive. Strong education systems ensure a well-prepared workforce, attract new employers to the region, and support property values that benefit both families and businesses. By maintaining smaller class sizes, protecting arts and enrichment programs, and providing competitive salaries for teachers, Higley schools are building the talent pipeline that our businesses depend on.
If passed, the override will:
Protect art, music, and library programs
Maintain smaller class sizes
Support electives and extracurricular activities
Provide salary increases for teachers and staff
If not renewed, the district will face reductions including:
Elimination of elementary media aides
Cuts to arts, library, and dual language programs
Larger class sizes and fewer course offerings
For the average homeowner, the investment is about $11.17 per month—a small cost compared to the long-term benefits of strong schools, strong families, strong property values, and a strong economy.

A vote for the override is a vote for our students, our workforce, and the future competitiveness of our business community.
