The Gilbert Chamber of Commerce has closely followed the Aura at San Tan project since its initial request for a General Plan Amendment and rezoning from Regional Commercial to Mixed-Use/Large.
In March 2025, the Chamber acknowledged that while the parcel was a strong fit for a mixed-use concept, we encouraged the applicant to bring the proposal into closer alignment with the Town’s definition of mixed-use to ensure that commercial, employment, and residential uses could be balanced to advance Gilbert’s long-term sustainability.
Since that time, the applicant has made substantial revisions to the project, including a significant expansion of the commercial footprint and design refinements that better align with Gilbert’s mixed-use standards. These changes directly address the Chamber’s prior concerns and represent a strong step toward ensuring that the development will generate both immediate and long-term value for our community.
With these improvements, the Gilbert Chamber is now in strong support of the Aura at San Tan project as presented. We believe the revised plan strikes the right balance by offering a high-quality residential component alongside a meaningful mix of commercial and employment opportunities. This combination not only sustains Gilbert’s future revenue base but also enhances the vitality and connectivity of the San Tan Village area.
We encourage members of the Gilbert Town Council to support this request.
