Gilbert Chamber Foundation Collects Donations For Local, Income Challenged Senior Citizens

- The Gilbert Chamber Foundation is organizing the 13th Annual Adopt-A-Senior program this holiday season to benefit Gilbert’s income challenged senior citizens and disabled Gilbert residents, in partnership with the Gilbert Senior Center and Page Commons senior housing.

The Gilbert Chamber Foundation’s Adopt-A-Senior program aims to bring joy and good cheer to income challenged and homebound seniors and disabled Gilbert residents by fulfilling wish lists and providing a holiday breakfast meal. The holiday breakfast celebration will include local entertainment from TotSpot Preschool, handcrafted holiday cards made by the students at Gilbert Elementary School, along with giveaways and gift bags filled with donations from our Holiday Drive for each senior. The Holiday Donation Drive is sponsored this year by Hatfield Medical Group. Mark and Mickie Newman, of Newman’s Realty, are once again sponsoring the Gilbert Chamber of Commerce Holiday Party this year, along with Quail Park Senior Living community. Admission funds collected from the Holiday Party is used towards the seniors’ holiday breakfast.

In addition to requesting donors to fulfill wish lists, the Gilbert Chamber Foundation is hosting a Holiday Donation Drive for prize giveaways and gift bags. Items should be dropped off to the Chamber office by December 2nd. Some suggested items for the prize giveaways and gift bags are:


  • Small kitchen items
  • Indoor grills/griddles
  • Pots and pans
  • Shampoo/conditioner
  • Lotion
  • Lip balm
  • Towel sets
  • Socks
  • Blankets
  • Robes/slippers
  • Jackets
  • Large print books
  • Playing cards/puzzles/ small games
  • Stationary
  • Purses/wallets
  • Flameless candles

“The residents and staff at Page Commons are so appreciative of the ongoing partnership with the Gilbert Chamber of Commerce,” says Ellen Abrams, Regional Philanthropy Director with Mercy Housing. “The Adopt-A-Senior program that the Chamber hosts every year not only provides much needed items, but also brings so much joy and happiness to the seniors that call Mercy Housing home. As you can imagine, these past few years has been tough, so this extra love and support is really welcomed!”
