Discover Gilbert Leadership: Cultivating Community Leaders Since 1992

In the heart of Gilbert, Arizona, a transformative initiative has been shaping the town's future leaders for over three decades. Established in 1992, the Gilbert Leadership program, under the auspices of the Gilbert Chamber of Commerce Foundation, is dedicated to uniting individuals from diverse backgrounds to foster leadership potential and deepen understanding of community issues.

What Is Gilbert Leadership?

Gilbert Leadership is more than just a program; it's a journey that equips participants with the tools and insights needed to make meaningful contributions to the community. Through a series of structured experiences, participants gain firsthand knowledge of the challenges and opportunities within Gilbert, enhancing their capacity to lead and serve effectively.

Program Highlights

Learning Days
Participants engage in ten comprehensive Learning Days, each focusing on critical aspects of the community:

  • Team Building

  • Leadercast (a simulcast event)

  • History of Gilbert

  • Government

  • Education

  • Economic Development

  • Public Safety

  • Health & Wellness

  • Community & Social Engagement

  • Reflect & Connect/Graduation

Gilbert Days Parade

Each year, the class collaborates to design and present a float in the Gilbert Days Parade, celebrating the program's heritage and future.

Service Project
A cornerstone of the program is the class service project, where participants identify a community need and work collectively to plan, fund, and execute a project that leaves a lasting impact. Past projects have included the creation of the Friendship Garden at Gilbert Regional Park and renovations at local nonprofit facilities.

Tours
To graduate, participants must complete additional community engagement through tours, attending events, and collaborating with local organizations, further enriching their understanding and connection to Gilbert.

Who Should Apply?

Gilbert Leadership seeks individuals who:

  • Live or work in Gilbert or are employed by a business with active membership in the Gilbert Chamber of Commerce for at least one year.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to community involvement and personal growth.

  • Desire to make a positive impact in the local community.

Applications are accepted annually from March 1st to July 5th, involving a written application and an in-person interview.

With over 650 alumni since its inception, Gilbert Leadership has cultivated a network of engaged citizens who continue to contribute to the town's vibrancy and resilience. The program not only develops individual leadership skills but also strengthens the fabric of the community through informed and dedicated service.
