Gilbert Leadership Alumni Update

Gilbert Leadership is devoted to seeking out and raising up the next generation of local leadership, and you are an important member of this effort! Please find below an update of current efforts and a few ways for which you can continue to stay connected to the program.

CLASS XXVIII COMMUNITY PROJECT This year's Gilbert Leadership class will complete a beautification project on behalf of the Gilbert Heritage Center, including installation of way-finding signs, wall art in the conference room, kids' room, and common areas, and planting of fruit trees. Project funds will be managed by AZCEND. To contribute to this class project, please make an online contribution and include "GL - Gilbert Heritage Center" in the Additional Note section. Or, send a check to AZCEND at 345 S. California Street, Chandler, AZ 85225 and include "GL - Gilbert Heritage Center" on the memo line. AZCEND does qualify for the Arizona Charitable Tax Credit.

ALUMNI SERVICE DAY Bring the family and join us for a morning of service at Midwest Food Bank in Gilbert. This alumni social is an opportunity for you to connect with past program participants and give back to the community. We encourage you to "Spread the Love" by bringing small, plastic containers of peanut butter and jelly for donation. Advance registration required. ALUMNI + 1 SOCIAL Should you choose to accept, we challenge you to bring a guest to this social and introduce them to the Gilbert Leadership program! This is an opportunity for you to catch up with past program participants and network with leaders who are invested in the community. Gilbert Leadership board members will be in attendance to welcome you and your guest and answer questions about the program. No formal agenda - just an opportunity to visit with your classmates and enjoy a fun end to your day. Advance registration requested. ALUMNI WORKSHOP - 'The Opportunity To Serve' Facilitated by Kayla Kolar, Joan Krueger, and Les Presmyk, this workshop will explore the many opportunities to serve on Boards and Commissions after completion of the Gilbert Leadership program. What areas of service most interest you? What does it take to serve? Where is help needed? What questions should you ask before accepting a voluntary leadership position? NOMINATE A LEADER Do you know a program graduate worthy of the Gilbert Leadership Award? Nominations are accepted now through March 31st on behalf of individuals who represent the highest level of dedication to the program's mission. Previous recipients include Rudy Apodaca, Candy Body, Les Presmyk, Adrianne Lynch, Tad Peelen, Bobbi Smith, Kayla Kolar, Dale Hallock, Linda Abbot, Tami Ryall, and Maria Hesse. SUBMIT NOMINATION

SERVE THE PROGRAM Apply to serve on the Gilbert Leadership Board. Applications are accepted January 1st through March 31st of each year for terms beginning July 1st of the same year. Much like the class, we typically receive more applicants than available positions. If you've applied in the past, please consider re-applying again this year! Purpose: Serves to maintain and further develop the Gilbert Leadership program, including the selection of class members and management of the program's budget. Members of this Board must be graduates of the program and must be appointed to the position. A financial contribution of $100 is required each year. Terms: Three years; eligible for one consecutive renewal of three years. Meetings: Typically held the first Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. APPLY NOW
